Display Village key to home ownership for first time buyers

First home buyers Rebecca and Kyle Clark say visiting the Ellendale Display Village helped them to take their first steps towards home ownership.
Rebecca said, as first time buyers, the couple weren't sure how to start the process of becoming home owners, but found a wealth of advice and knowledge at Ellendale.
"We actually heard about Ellendale a few years back when we started looking into schools for our daughter. We were living in Albany Creek at the time and decided to move to Upper Kedron to see if we liked the area before buying," she said.
"We fell in love with Upper Kedron - it's just 12km to the city but it feels private and quiet because it's surrounded by bushland, and the added bonus is it has schools nearby for Sierra.
"After two years of looking at existing homes in the area and not finding anything suitable, we decided to visit Ellendale.
"The Ellendale Display Village, which features a number of builders and display homes all in one location, made it easy to understand our home building options.
"Every builder had a slightly different approach to the way they presented their plans to us, so it was convenient to be able to compare what was on offer and ask advice from different people before making a decision.
"The display homes allowed us to get a better idea of what was possible in our price range, and even gave us some good styling tips!
"We ended up choosing to build a single storey four bedroom, two bathroom home with Metricon Homes, who were fantastic throughout the whole process and very willing to work within our budget."
Mrs Clark said the best advice she could offer first home buyers was to do their research and ask questions.
"There are plenty of resources available online, but nothing beats talking to a real person," she said.
"Make sure you do your research to get the best deal on your finance and have an idea of how much you can borrow, then make the effort to go out and visit builders and display villages.
"Our experience has been a very happy and exciting one and we can't wait to move in to our new home."
The Ellendale Display Village is located at 324 Canvey Road, Upper Kedron and is open Saturday to Wednesday, 10am to 5pm.
Homesites are now selling from $280,000 and house and land packages from $461,559 in the boutique Cedar Glen release, with land starting from $355,000 and house and land from $547,321 in the wider Ellendale community.
