Right time to buy

01/08/2019
Our sales manager Alan Meacock tells us why he thinks now is a great time to buy property...

You could argue that 2019 is the year of the home buyer, with record low interest rates and a raft of schemes and incentives making it easier than ever for people to step in to a new home.

The Reserve Bank recently cut interest rates for two consecutive months, bringing rates to a record low. This is fantastic news for first time buyers and a great opportunity for those already in the market to assess their mortgage and consider if refinancing is an option.

The other major helping hand for purchasers is that the banks have recently relaxed rules around how they qualify customers for finance, which will again benefit first time buyers, as well as current home owners looking to access additional funds.

These two changes mean it is now cheaper and easier to get a home loan than it has been in many years.

First time buyers in particular should consider investing in property. The Federal Government will soon be offering a first home deposit guarantee, which allows buyers to save a five per cent deposit while the government underwrites the remaining 15 per cent, to help borrowers avoid Lenders Mortgage Insurance, which can cost up to $10,000.

There's also the $15,000 Queensland Government First Home Owner Grant for new or substantially renovated homes and stamp duty exemptions are also available for first home buyers.

If you or someone you know is in the market, encourage them to visit me in the sales centre on Canvey Road, Upper Kedron for a chat.
