Soaking up the sun in Samford

Soaking up the sun in Samford

A short 15 minute drive from Ellendale is the charming (and scenic!) village of Samford. Perfect for a day trip with the family, this region will make you feel a world away from home … when it’s really just around the corner.

Boasting natural beauty and a local business scene with real country hospitality, Samford Village could be just the place for you to sit back, relax and bask in that Queensland sunshine.

Cafe Culture

What goes better with picturesque views of rolling hills, than a scrumptious serving of Eggs Benedict? The cafe scene in Samford is matched only by the scenery of the area, with many  Brisbanites making the drive to order up a coffee with a view.

You’ll be spoilt for choice, with venues like The Flying Nun Cafe (which can be found inside Samford’s Old Uniting Church, complete with stained glass and mosaics!), local favourite Little Tree, plus a larder, espresso stop and patisserie - the list goes on.

Be sure to arrive in Samford Village with an empty stomach, just so you can get a real ‘taste’ of what the area has to offer.

Cedar Creek

Once your appetite has been satiated, give your soul a little boost with the beautiful surrounds and fun of the local rock pools.

Best enjoyed fresh after some recent rain, the swimming holes (found along Cedar Creek Road) offer a stunning setting for water play and picnics. Even the drive there is a winding journey of natural wonder.

Make your way to Andy Williams Park to find plenty of parking, toilet facilities and even electric barbeques you can use to cook up a family feast.

Visit of Requirement

If you have a Harry Potter fan in tow, you can’t escape a visit to the incredible Store of Requirement. One of only two of its kind in Australia, the Store is home to Australia's largest range of officially licensed Harry Potter merchandise.

Little wizards and witches can even enjoy a Butterscotch Brew here, or ‘accio’ themselves one of the Hogwarts inspired cakes and treats on offer.

Make sure you line up your visit with one of the school holiday workshops, from a special class in Potions and Transformations, to wand making that would rival Ollivander … even magical cupcake decorating!

Laidback lifestyle

Those wanting a little less ‘hocus pocus’, and a lot more ‘namaste’, should stop into the Lifestyle Centre in Samford Valley.

A hub for all things home, health and wellbeing, the Lifestyle Centre plays host to local businesses that sell products or services to enhance your life.

Whether it’s shopping for a new succulent, taking a yoga class or even taking a ‘Paddock Walk’ (complete with goats, ducks and donkeys), there is something here for all to enjoy.

Samford Farmer’s Markets

And to cap off an incredible day, we recommend taking a little local love home with you, by exploring the range of produce at the Samford Farmer’s Markets.

Found on Millen Farm each Wednesday afternoon from 2pm-5pm, this is where you can get THE freshest produce around. If farm to plate is your thing, this market measures around 47 metres from planting bed to stall!

There are also various workshop events held throughout the year (at the Farm and beyond) for those who want to learn more about sustainable food production.
