Upper Kedron popular with families

Families looking for bigger homes are flocking to Brisbane's fringe suburbs, including Upper Kedron.
More than 85 per cent of homes in Upper Kedron have four bedrooms or more, to accommodate the 64 per cent of residents who are couples with children.
Upper Kedron, which is just 12 kilometres to the Brisbane CBD, has seen significant growth in recent years, with Ellendale the last masterplanned development being established to cater to demand.
Ellendale is already home to more than 150 families and offers homesites ranging from 300sqm to 3,000sqm, with land prices starting from $355,000.
Peter Starr, senior development manager at Cedar Woods, which is developing Ellendale, says the community is appealing to a range of buyers, with a strong emphasis on families looking to upsize or build their dream home, without sacrificing space or accessibility.
“Buyers are being drawn to Ellendale for its family friendly atmosphere, leafy streets and abundant bushland, which gives a sense of peace and tranquility,” he said.
“Recent statistics show four-bedroom homes make up 86 per cent of occupied private dwellings in Upper Kedron, so people are seizing the opportunity to build a family home within 12 kilometres of the Brisbane CBD.
“Ellendale offers a variety of lot sizes with plenty of home options, including a display village showcasing designs from some of Queensland's top builders.
“Children are living at home longer and we are seeing examples of multi-generational purchasers, so we are seeing the upward trend continuing for larger, more spacious family homes."
